Duet arrived safely today in Papeete, Tahiti, after an uneventful 300 mile passage from Tahanea Atoll, in the Tuamotu Archipelago. This completes the first part of our journey, which has brought us 3,900 nautical miles miles since we departed Mexico in mid March. It has been an incredible trip thus far.
We have made one change to our plans. Duet will be staying in French Polynesia until mid 2018, rather than continuing on to New Zealand in the fall of 2017. This area is just too beautiful to rush through, particularly after all the effort it took to get here. So, when we return to the boat in late August, we will be planning three months of cruising in the Society Islands and the Tuamotu Archipelago.
More detailed blogs about the journey thus far will follow. In the meantime, we wish our readers a pleasant Northern Hemisphere spring.

Oh wow how glorious. I think you”re very wise to stay put. I see so many pushing along just to complete the journey rather than enjoying each place and getting to know them. Hopefully you will post some photos when you”re back in the US. Wonderful, Nancy and Ron. Thank you. Hugs, Sue.
